Richard founded SnowGoat Skimo in 2018 when he was a bum ski patroller at Stevens Pass. Originally from the flatlands of Iowa, Richard was a late in life ski convert when the Army moved him to Fort Lewis. He first caught the skimo bug at the Patrol Race in 2016 and wanted to see more races like this in the PNW.

Now a Firefighter/EMT, Richard splits his time between the budding family, work, trying to explore the mountains via ski, foot, rope, and bike, and plan epic mountain races! He has helped direct the inaugural Tahoe 200, Bigfoot 200, and Mount Baker Ultra as well as many others. Also the Executive Director of Skimo Northwest, Richard is proud to lead the passionate team of skimo enthusiasts to help grow the sport here regionally.
