Join our SnowGoat Family!

These races, events, and community are not here because of you, they are you.  The team behind the scenes organizing, hosting, and advocating are passionate ski mountaineers just like yourself.  We have found the joy in helping foster the community surrounding the sport and are excited to be a part of it all!

As a grassroots community driven organization, we are always looking for people who see the magic in these events and want to do their part to lift the load. Below are the positions we currently are looking for passionate, driven individuals to fill:

  • Executive Director (accepting applications, open until filled) **High Priority**
Paid position, 20hrs/mo | Job Description
Our current ED, Richard Kresser, has committed to filling this role until the end of the 2025 season. However, the sooner we could find his replacement as the “center node” of the organization, the smoother the transition will be.

  • Head Race Director (currently filled)
Paid position, 25hrs/mo | Job Description

  • Local Race Director (always accepting applications)
    Volunteer, 15hr/mo | Job Description
Do you have an idea for a new skimo race that you would like to organize? We are always open to ideas to expand the SnowGoat Skimo race calendar. Currently Local RDs are volunteers, but in the future we aim to compensate them as we gain our financial stability.

  • Skimo Northwest Board of Directors (always accepting applications)
    Volunteer, 4hr/mo
Our volunteer Board provides strategic guidance to accomplish our Prime Directives. Our At Large positions cover members with a wide variety of life and business experiences to help advise our team how to organize successfully. Board members are voted in for 3yr terms while Officer positions are held for one year. Meetings are held the first Monday of the month (8pm virtually) throughout the season.

  • Local Ski Resort Advocate (always accepting applications)
    Volunteer, 4hr/mo
Advance friendly in-bounds uphill travel policies at local ski areas through conversations and policy suggestions with resort management.  We are taking our advocacy model we’ve developed with the Summit at Snoqualmie (improved Uphill Routes, better signage, uphill friendly policies, etc) and intend to spread to additional PNW resorts. Work with us to have a positive affect on your home mountain!

  • Race Operations Deputy (always accepting applications)
    Volunteer, attend x3 races/season
The races are our core; and they’re a ton of fun. Surprisingly, they are even more fun helping out behind the scenes.  Each race takes 3-5 Deputies, managed by the Local Race Director, to cover critical special roles like course setup, communication, and skiing all around a mountain with armfuls of gear.  Trust us, it’s a blast!

  • Communications Chair (accepting applications)
    Volunteer, 4hrs/mo
Be the voice of the SnowGoat! Skimo Northwest aims to be the voice of the uphillers, but we need an individual to both listen to and communicate out to that community. Crafting newsletters, building relationships with other organizations, listening to feedback, and being tied in to the community would be some of the responsibilities. Role could possibly be combined with Executive Director.

  • Youth Development Committee (always accepting applications)
    Volunteer, 4hrs/mo
Are you interested in getting your kids more involved?  Or are you a coach who thinks it’s time to start a PNW skimo team?  Get in touch with us as we gauge the interest in beginning a youth program.

Testimonials from our current Board of Directors:

Aaron Ostrovsky (Vice President):  “For someone who has been enthusiastic about the skimo racing scene in the PNW for almost two decades, being a part of the board of Skimo Northwest/SnowGoat Skimo has given me the opportunity to give back to the community I love and help ensure we have high quality skimo racing in the PNW far into the future!”

Travis Nesse (Snoqualmie Advocacy Chair):  “At Snow Goat I've been able to channel my professional skills directly into my personal passion for skiing. The PNW has such a rich skiing history and it's both exciting and humbling to build on those traditions. Not to mention, we try to have a lot of fun while working to build a strong uphill culture in our corner of the country.”

Ely Gerbin (At Large Director):  “Volunteering for Skimo Northwest is incredibly fulfilling - our sport is still nascent and this opportunity allows us to help shape how we envision skimo to grow and sustain in the northwest.  It’s a great way to give back and advocate for the community, and to learn a lot about the industry and the sport.”

Seth Davis (Treasurer): “For the last twenty years Vertfest and other local skimo races have been primary events for the ski touring community to gather.  For a community used to socializing in small circles it creates a unique opportunity to gather as a holistic group.  Skimo NW (Snow Goat Skimo) not only enables these events to happen but also amplifies the voice of the community.  It has been honor to be part of organization that enables and enhances the community that is so important to the lifestyle we love so much.”
