Despite growing up in the relatively flat Midwest, Matt was fortunate enough to have a 300' ski hill 15 minutes from his hometown in Northeast Ohio. Growing up skiing and snowboarding instilled in Matt a love for the outdoors and sharing it with friends and family. After moving to Portland, Oregon, in 2014 with his now wife, Alex, Matt began to explore the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. In the interest of moving faster and further in the mountains, lightweight gear was very appealing. After trying out skimo racing for the first time at Cascade Endurance's Loup Loup Skimo Race, Matt was hooked. When Matt's not training to get smoked by his faster friends, you can find him spending ample time with his wife, Alex, and border collie, Otto.
