Joe learned to ski on the icy slopes of Bradford Ski Hill in Massachusetts. He eventually discovered what snow could truly be as an undergrad in Boulder, Colorado. After exploring other interests for a while, he rediscovered his love of skiing a decade ago when he and his wife taught their two sons to ski on the sunny slopes of Mt. Bachelor. In 2022, he put on skins for the first time to participate in the Wy’easter Vertical Day and—despite finishing near the back of the pack—he was hooked. Now based in Portland, OR, Joe is passionate about growing the sport of skimo, fostering a love of uphilling, and advocating for expanded uphill access. With their nest nearly empty, Joe, his wife, and their dog spend as much time outdoors as possible.
