ERIC SCHMIDGALL
Wy’Easter Race Director

Born and raised in Kansas, Eric ended up in Portland in 2016 to be closer to the mountains. He started working at the Mountain Shop in 2018 to take a break from teaching middle school and add backcountry skiing to his repertoire of outdoor pursuits. That season, he started helping out with the shop's Wy'Easter races, a low key series that started as a way for tele and AT skiers to get together and have fun on Mount Hood. Now the GM of the Mountain Shop, he's excited to help the sport of skimo grow in the Pacific Northwest. When not hanging out with his wife and daughter, helping run the shop or cramming grad school classes into his busy schedule, he's out cycling, skiing on skinny skis, trying to nail at least one good tele turn, or convincing himself he's a sub-sub-sub elite trail runner.
